Delegations from the Mamprugu and Dagbon Traditional Councils on Thursday, December 15, 2016, paid courtesy calls on the President-Elect of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to assure him of their continued support and prayers for the success of his government, God-willing, from January 7, 2017.
The President-Elect of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has thanked Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, the Kumasi Traditional Council, and the people of the Ashanti Region for the massive show of support they offered him on December 7.
Ladies and gentlemen of the media, fellow Ghanaians,
A few minutes ago, at 7:51pm precisely, the President of the Republic and the NDC presidential candidate, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, called me on the phone to congratulate me on my victory in the presidential election of 7th December 2016. He wished me the best of luck and God’s blessings, and assured me of his full co-operation in organizing the transition from his administration to mine. I thanked him for this graceful gesture, which is in the finest traditions of Ghanaian statesmanship and, on my part, assured him of my cooperation for a successful transition. I also thanked him for his service to our nation and said that I felt sure that his contribution to the welfare of our Republic was by no means over. I have also received words of congratulation from my other competitors, Mr. Ivor Greenstreet, our former 1st Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Dr. Edward Mahama, and Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah. I am grateful to them.
The New Patriotic Party is organizing an inter-denominational and Muslim National Praise and Thanksgiving services to thank God for the party’s resounding victory in the just-ended presidential and parliamentary elections.
The events are being organized under the distinguished patronage of the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo.
The Chief Imam, Dr Nuhu Sharubutu, will be leading the Muslim Thanksgiving service at the Central Mosque, Abosai Okai, on Friday, December 16, 2016.
The inter-denominational Thanksgiving service takes place afterwards on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the Accra Sports Stadium, under theme Psalm 20 vrs 5: “We will rejoice in thy salvation and in the name of our God. We will set up our banners. The Lord fulfill all thy petition.”
In attendance at both events will be the Vice President-elect, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, all our Members of Parliament-elect and the leadership of the party.
Members of the general public are cordially invited to these events to thank God and seek His blessings for the incoming administration.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) representatives at the Electoral Commission’s National Collation Center are cross-checking the results presented by the EC with the pink sheets from the polling stations. As the EC Commissioner said yesterday, the results have already been declared at the polling stations. As of 1:30PM today, the EC has certified 211 of 275 constituencies. From the 211 that have been certified, the provisional results show Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received 4,755,577 votes [55.87% of valid votes verified] and John Dramani Mahama has received 3,697,163 votes [43.44% of valid votes verified]. We call on everyone to allow this process to proceed so we can confirm that the results at the EC National Collation center are consistent with the results that have been reported at the polling stations.
According to the 28,690 [98.03%] polling station results that have been collected and collated so far by the NPP, the provisional figures show that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received 5,636,431 votes or 53.57% of the votes cast. The polling station results reflect a voter turnout of 66.25% thus far. While we await for official confirmation of the results, we would like to congratulate the people of Ghana for continuing our proud history of peaceful and orderly democratic processes.
